Your PBX extension inside Microsoft Teams
Answer and make calls on your company's PBX in the same window where you already chat. Here you'll find the first steps, the requirements and answers to the most common issues.
Get started in three steps
You need an active Era Voice account. If your company doesn't have one yet, talk to Era.
- 1
Add the app
In Teams, open Apps, search for Era Voice and click Add.
- 2
Sign in with your extension
In the Phone tab, enter your company's Era Voice server address and sign in with your usual login.
- 3
Allow the microphone
When Teams asks for access to the microphone, click Allow. That's it: your extension now rings in Teams.
What you'll need
This is the same information you use in Era Voice. If you don't know any of it, ask your company's PBX administrator.
- Server addressfirst time only
- Usernamee.g.
john - Passwordyour extension's password
- PBX domaine.g.

Call alerts
With Era Voice open, Teams alerts you when the phone rings, even when another window is in front. You can answer right from the alert. The app's bot only sends these alerts and does not reply to messages.
Keep it handy
Right-click the app icon in the Teams sidebar and choose Pin.
Where Era Voice works
- An active Era Voice account. The app does not create accounts or replace your phone service: it gives you access to the PBX your company already has.
- Microsoft Teams for desktop or on the web, with microphone access allowed.
- Not available in Teams for mobile, in Outlook or in Microsoft 365.
- Calls follow your PBX dial plan: internal extensions always work; external numbers depend on the routes your company has contracted.
Common issues
“Invalid username or password”
Check your details and fill in the PBX domain. If it still fails, ask your PBX administrator to confirm your login.
“The server did not respond”
Check the server address. To fix it, click “change” on the sign-in screen.
The other person can't hear me
The microphone is blocked for Teams. In Teams for desktop, open your system's privacy settings and allow Teams to use the microphone. In the browser, click the padlock in the address bar and allow the microphone.
The phone doesn't ring
Keep Teams open with Era Voice loaded: that is what keeps your extension connected.
Calls to external numbers drop
External numbers depend on the routes your company has contracted on the PBX. Extension-to-extension calls always work; for outside calls, check with your PBX administrator.
